Let me introduce Myself
My name is Donna Martin, and I hold a BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling.
Â
As a proud member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), I bring extensive experience from my years as a teaching assistant in a special needs school, supporting primary-aged children and working with adults with additional needs.

Presently, I provide therapeutic support in four schools across County Durham, helping children from reception to Year 6. My work focuses on assisting those facing school avoidance, trauma, anxiety and behavioural challenges, within a safe and nurturing environment.

Alongside my work with children, I also offer private counselling for adults, supporting clients through difficult periods in their lives.

Testimonials
A parent's testimonial
I would like to share how thankful I am for the behaviour counselling support Donna provided for my son, as well as for me through the sessions we attended together. From the beginning, Donna created a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where we both felt comfortable.
Â
Her approach to behaviour counselling was thoughtful and practical, helping my son develop better ways to manage his emotions and responses while also giving me the tools and confidence to support him more effectively at home.Â
Â
Donna’s patience, understanding, and professionalism really stood out, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about helping us make progress. I would highly recommend.
Adult client
Donna is an exceptional counsellor. She provided me with a safe therapeutic space in which I was able to grow and develop. Her approach was consistently understanding and validating, and I learned so much from her diverse skill set. She was, and continues to be, genuinely invested in my wellbeing and personal growth. This support enabled me to thrive and flourish, building my confidence and helping me to feel more able to cope. This has been especially meaningful as a neurodivergent person who has previously found therapy difficult or not fully inclusive of my needs. Donna is a genuinely warm and authentic person who makes you feel truly heard.
My Approach
I have taken the skills I learnt and tried to implement them into my sessions with children, we look at emotions and what these look and feel like for them helping them to understand them better but also how to deal with emotion.

I have helped children use things like the zones of regulation within the classroom as well as observing clients in the classroom to see how they manage in the space, this has led to understanding noises they explain in sessions or smells or things like displays that are over stimulating.

Also to identify needs of things like visuals and now and next boards or in task schedules.
